I got this series because they were cheap when I got my K2 but continued to read with reckless abandon whenever I had a free moment because it was a great book with realistic characters. It was neat to see the characters grow from teens to middle age and how conflicts developed and were solved. I enjoyed seeing the family grow as well and each new characters family develop into the storyline. If you are looking for a series of books to leave you feeling good and wanting more out of your relationships, this is it. Curl up next to the fire and enjoy.Product details

Very great set of novels. It was really nice to get to read through the lives of all of the characters. I didnt really care for the fact in the last book it seemed like every single character got to tell their point of view. overall i would and have recommend this book.
I bought the 4th book first and when I realized I was missing parts I checked into K A Thompson. The books are a bargin at 3.99, I'd have paid much more for the books alone. It is a long read but with the I just take it where ever I go and pickup where I left off. I'm on the 4th one now and hope there is more after this,I'd buy them for sure.
I first read "As Simple As That" and thoroughly enjoyed it. So I went back and bought "The Charybdis Novels" to get caught up on the whole series. ("As Simple As That" is included in "The Charybdis" novels, so don't buy it separately if you can avoid it). I very much enjoyed these books. While at times it was confusing, I also liked how the first person voice changed throughout the books. It is well worth spending the couple of dollars to read these books.
I just loved this story. The characters were well written, and I found myself wanting to know the rest of their life story and their children's lives. I could not put this book down and was really excited to see there were additional books that continued the story line.
The best description I was coming up with while reading this was that it was very human. The characters go through way more hardships than they deserve through the four books, but every one of them being at least semi-realistic, and causing very human reactions. It is the story of a family.
Going into this set of novels you need to know that the characters will go through extremely hard times and judge whether that is appropriate for you to be reading. For me, it wasn't, because it was pulling up emotions connected to things that were happening in real life to me stronger than I could handle. However despite having a point where it hurt a lot, I think the books helped me through my hard times by making it easier to figure out how others were feeling.
Without feeling like it should be, it pulls you in, and makes you want to keep reading constantly. It was an incredibly well written book, and if it wasn't for the fact that it caused me to have overwhelming emotions, I'd probably give it 5 stars despite being far from what I normally read.
I fell in love with this family through all their ups and downs. Thoughtful and well written!
Having mentioned to the author that this was my first kindle purchase, she immediately pointed out the flaws she would like to redo. This meant I noticed them all. In spite of that, the characters were incredibly memorable. As the stories go on, the characters change and their motivations deepen. It's a wonderful read. I look forward to reading the next novels in the series.
